DIMM007: The year has officially started
Ok, so the directors commentary is out, so we're moving on from that.
Today is Sunday, September 1st, 2024 and I couldn't be happier about it. I am what some would call a 70 degree slut oh my god I cannot wait for it to get cold again.
I live in the great state of Colorful Colorado. If you didn't know, while it gets pretty cold in the winter, it still gets to 100˚F (37.7˚C) in the summer. (I know that wherever the fuck you are it's somehow simultaneously colder and hotter so whatever, but I know what I feel, and I was born in the great sunshine state of Florida, so 10˚F (-12.2˚C) is pretty cold for me.) Looking at my weather app right now its not getting over 85˚F (29.4˚C) for the next week and I can sense the coldness approaching.
Some people have seasonal depression for the winter time, I think I have like seasonal euphoria or something. I just want to go through a play by play of what is going on for the rest of the year here, what I'm excited for (and not so excited for.)
September doesn't really have much, except for the 21st night, and when September ends. And of course, everyone's favorite holiday, LABOR DAY!!1!!111! That's tomorrow, I honestly wouldn't have even noticed if the library wasn't closed. Even though literally nothing happens in September it is the month that starts to get into that fall mood. Something that happens in September is Apple's September Event, where they usually announce new iPhones and other hardware. I'm excited, I think the iPhone 16 will be my next iPhone. I have an SE 2020 atm and its starting to get pretty old.
October's got Halloween, the 2nd best holiday of the year of course. Fall is in full swing, there are a bunch of Halloween movies, it's officially the time of the year where its appropriate to have a pumpkin spice chai tea latte, and I slurp those up like its crack (because it is.) October is also when my birthday is, I share a birthday with Anthony Fantano and Bill Gates... lucky me. And importantly for me and what I do, Minecraft Live usually happens in October, which is probably gonna have a mob vote and some new stuff to show us about Minecraft. I'm thinking of having some form of live coverage of Minecraft Live, but don't quote me on that.
November with Thanksgiving, 3rd best holiday, which I'm less looking forward to this year. Its still good fun to all come together and have a nice meal and stuff, but I'm not really looking forward to seeing my extended family for many reasons. One of which is the US Presidential election, which is happening this year. If you are somehow swayed by me saying it, please go out and vote. I am struggling to say anything different than every single person online telling you to go to vote.org to vote but that's really the only recommendation I can give. If you don't want to talk to humans, most state have options to accommodate that if you jump through a few hoops. Remember, even if you feel like your vote for the president doesn't matter, there are a lot of other things on the ballot than just that, look up ballot measures for your state/county to see those. Often they will have a more measurable impact in your daily life than the president. I found a website called Ballot Ready where you can type in an address near you and they'll tell you what's on your ballot (it asks for your email a lot but you don't need to put it in). November starts to get actually cold in Colorado. It's not too bad, but a light jacket is basically needed to walk outside.
I'm that bitch that breaks out the Christmas music at 5pm on thanksgiving day. I have a custom Christmas playlist for the mood, I am smiling just writing about this oh my god AAAAAAAAAA. I remember last year when I was studying for finals, all I listened to at all times was just Christmas music and it was amazing. This is when the coldness really starts to set in and I don't know about you, but I love the cold. I can't wait to get rid of my loud ass AC and just pump cold air in from outside.
I don't know what it is about Christmas but it holds a special place in my heart, for me its the #1 best holiday of the year. I know its cliche its the "most wonderful time of the year" but it seriously is.
Anyways I'm excited for the rest of the year, and what it has to offer for me in many ways. I was wondering why the Optifine video wore me out so much, Then I realized it was probably because I've been working on it for 3 months. I'm glad to move on and work on something else.
