DIMM008: Minecraft Movie Teaser Trailer
I was gonna post about deadlock today, but that'll have to wait till Sunday because a teaser for "A Minecraft Movie" just came out and I want to talk about it. I usually don't want to write about minecraft here, since that's what my youtube channel is for, but I don't think I'm gonna talk about this over there, at least not right now. First of all, go watch it for yourself, form your own opinions, then come back.

The minecraft movie has had rumblings of something maybe happening for more than a decade at this point. And now that we actually have an official trailer, I'm really not feeling it. Obviously, I'm still gonna see it opening night Thursday, April 3rd, 2025; the money for those tickets is already spent. However I really don't like the realism angle that they are going for. It's all live action humans in an entire CGI world, which really doesn't feel like the way to do this movie.
Minecraft has very many different animation styles that people have used for youtube videos for years. They could have gone with the how-we-make-minecraft style or the fallen kingdom style or the minecraft story mode style or the minecraft game trailer style or even fucking villager news style from 11 years ago would have been better than this like pseudo realism style.
It really looks like one of those 512x512 hyper-realistic texture packs pasted onto minecraft. I am not really the biggest fan of that, and I'm definitely not alone. The landscape actually looks pretty cool, its not crazy insane but it looks nice. The thing that looks absolutely nightmarish are the mobs. Like the sheep made me say what the hell like the woman literally in the next shot. I'm hoping that once I see the actual movie in actual theaters it won't be super jarring like that, but I'm scared it won't be.
And oh my god when Jack "Jablinsky Games" Black said "I am Steve" I screamed NOOOOOOOOO. That line made me squirm around as I heard it like bugs in my skin EAUGH. I hope that's just for the trailers and they don't actually say it like that in the movie.
Also why is the creeper so hairy?
