DIMM014: Leaving the Desert
We have been in a desert of content for Minecraft for a little bit now. The last new thing that came out that I thought was interesting and worth discussing was the Mace, and that was 6 months ago, and I made a video about it 3 months ago.
I've been trying to come up with a topic to talk about for a couple weeks now. The first one I was doing showed serious potential and got pretty far, but I finally realized that it didn't really make much sense, so it has been archived. Maybe it'll come back in some capacity, but its equally likely it wont. I think I have a couple good ideas for scripts at this point, one of which is probably gonna come out in early to mid October. But its nothing about anything new to the actual game because nothing big has happened for the last 6 months! Sure minecarts got changed, but they're still the exact same speed, ender pearls can go through portals, great that's useful in maybe 1 scenario, bundles are dyable now, cool I guess. All just very softball changes.
I love when Mojang goes wild and does something bold (like with the mace and villager rebalance) but that stuff hasn't really been happening recently, and I miss it. I'm hoping that their new short term release schedule can allow them to be a little more experimental more often, then go back on it if it doesn't work. That'd be great for me at least.
Minecraft Live is on Saturday and I'm really hoping that we get something good there. SPOILERS INCOMING SO STOP READING IF YOU DON'T LIKE THAT. It seems as though from the recent leaks and teasers we've been getting that we are getting a new mob that has a weeping angel type mechanic, which is super unique as far as minecraft mobs go. And I think that that might be good to talk about. It seems like there is some kind of horror theme going on for this "drop" which is pretty cool. Minecraft is very rarely scary to me at all (deep dark can kinda get spooky though) so I want to see if it'll be scary a year from now (probably not)
There's also a new biome that I think goes along with this mob, It looks like its called the pale garden, and it has like a ghostly white woodtype. One of my friends suggested that it might be petrified wood, which would be the craziest conclusion to the whole alpha slab thing. I'm hoping that they go for a kind of a tree w/o leaves thing to remind you of one of the tells of Herobrine.
So basically more videos are coming soon because we're finally leaving the Minecraft content desert. Thanks Mojang!
