DIMM026: The worst part of making a video

Previous Blog | Next Blog

I'm making a video, while also making a video about making videos, so unsurprisingly, its got me thinking about how I make videos.

And currently, I am in the worst part. The worst part, for me, is when the script is just finished. Nothing has been filmed or edited, the script is just done.

This is the worst part for me because I feel like I have done sooooo much work, this script has been in the works for 2 months now, but I still have nothing. And when it gets done, you can see the avalanche of work that you still have to do.

It's discouraging every single time, and you start wondering like, is this script even good? Is any of this funny? I of course know that it is probably funny at some points, I have just looked at it for so long that it feels like it is bad.

And now that I'm sick of this thing, I still have to go and record it and edit it and yeah. Usually this feeling goes away the first day of editing, when I have something to show for my work. But the week between the script being finished and editing starting is a rough one for sure.

I think I should reward myself for finishing a script, rather than just giving myself the reward of more work to do. Maybe I'll go out for lunch or something tomorrow.

This should be a time of celebration as the script is done, woo hoo! but really its just a time of realization of how much work I still have to do.

After all, I'm procrastinating doing the storyboard by writing this blog post.

Anyways, good luck future creators, know that you aren't alone, you're at least in the club with me :).
